A limited, well-revised booklist beats piling up resources. Start with NCERTs, then move to one standard reference per subject and revise repeatedly.
NCERTs (Classes 6–12) for History, Geography, Polity, Economy and Science build the base and are frequently the source of Prelims questions.
Polity by M. Laxmikanth, Modern History by Spectrum, Geography by G.C. Leong, Indian Economy by Ramesh Singh, and an environment compilation cover most of the syllabus.
A daily newspaper plus a monthly current-affairs magazine, revised regularly, is more effective than reading many sources once.
NCERTs build the foundation but must be supplemented with standard references and current affairs.
