UPSC Interview (Personality Test)

The final stage of the UPSC CSE is the Personality Test, commonly called the interview. It carries 275 marks and assesses suitability for a career in public service.

What is Assessed

The board evaluates mental alertness, clarity of thought, balance of judgement, depth of interest, social cohesion and integrity — not just academic knowledge.

Role of the DAF

Questions are often drawn from the Detailed Application Form: your home state, education, hobbies, work experience and optional subject. Know your DAF thoroughly.

Preparation

Follow current affairs, form balanced opinions on contentious issues, and practise mock interviews to build composure and honest, structured responses.
